Silverstripe Cloud Public Sector Stack set up

First, let’s look at the process for ordering and supplying the correct information to get your Silverstripe Cloud Stack setup ready to use. Assuming you have been through a trial and decided to on-board to Silverstripe Cloud, an Account Manager and/or Solution Architect will work with you to:

  1. Determine the size of stack you need
  2. Finalise any contractual aspects
  3. Provide a Silverstripe Cloud “Stack Schedule” which you fill out to let us know all the information required to set up your services.

What information do I need to provide in the Stack Schedule?

The following is a guide on what you need to provide in order to start your migration process to Silverstripe Cloud. While not completely exhaustive it should give you somewhere to start when collecting information about your website.

  1. A name for your stack (letters, numbers and dashes only, max 8 characters).
  2. Primary URL of your website.
  3. Project code repository location (we use Git on Silverstripe Cloud, you may have your own or may opt to use a provided repository).
  4. Current traffic: Pages views per month and (for heavy traffic sites) request per second.
  5. Database size (if known).
  6. Any IP address to be whitelisted to access the Silverstripe Cloud tools (i.e. your office’s static IP).
  7. The domain(s) you want to be able to send emails from Silverstripe Cloud Stacks
  8. Stack region: New Zealand, ap-southeast-2 (Sydney), eu-west-1 (Ireland), ssuswest2 (Oregon). Enquire for other regions.
  9. Stack size: For Silverstripe Cloud Public Sector sizes it's best to talk to a Silverstripe Account Manager as these can differ slightly from internationally hosted stack sizes
  10. Any additional paid services you wish to opt into (Solr search, WAF, VPN, Extra environments, Code Care etc).
  11. Define your team roles (assign a Stack Manager, Release Manager and other team members that can access the Service Desk and other services). You’ll need to provide names, email addresses, in some cases, mobile numbers.

Once completed and contracts signed, your Silverstripe Cloud Stack will be created and access granted to those nominated in your defined team roles. You will now be able to access testing and production environments, depending on your assigned roles, carry out code deployments and commit code to your projects.
